Created as the result of the erosion of soil and stones by wind and rain, the two-million-year-old Stars Valley is located on the west of the village of Berkeh Khalaf, 5 kilometers from the southern coast of the Qeshm Island. The natives tell a lot of stories about it and when one is personally placed in the environment of the valley, one feels its wonderfully mysterious atmosphere.
According to legends, many years ago a star fell from the sky and took up the soil and gravel with it. Furthermore, the natives of Qeshm believe this place to be the dwelling of goblins, and so, they do not go to the valley at night. The unique qualities and attractions of the Stars Valley have resulted in the valley’s being recognized (as a part of the geopark of Qeshm) among the natural sites by UNESCO. The geopark of Qeshm, with all its natural and historical attractions, is the only geopark in the Middle East
The Stars Valley in Qeshm is, in fact, an area eroded by surface waters, seasonal showers, and storms. The initial plateau which is still intact to a certain degree in the northern part is located at the height of 7 to 10 meters from the bottom of the valley. It is made of stone gravel with limestone cement and is full of fossil crusts.Sharp cones, eroded columns, arches, ridges, and strip walls are among other significant attractions of the Stars Valley in Qeshm.
